I recently sent myself an ecard from moma to be delivered at a future date. I’m so glad I did because after a week off of email, I had this little surprise waiting for me. I want to remember this act of self love. Here it is:

I’m doing a week of reading deprivation (including e-mail!) as part of the Artist’s Way process. It’s been amazingly good for my creativity and I am learning A LOT about how I spend my time and why. I’ve been doing more of the following life-affirming things:

playing
dancing
dreaming
writing
painting
walking
creating

Here’s to balance!

This morning I drew the “Leadership” card from my Doreen Virtue Archangel oracle deck. It spoke of it being my time to move forward with my leadership abilities. I also drew the Hierophant card from the Tarot and the Wolf card from the Animal Medicine deck. These are both teacher cards.

I also did a three card reading with the Gaian Tarot online deck. The resolution card was “The Builder” (the Emperor in the Tarot). Here is the description:

4 – the Builder
Structure, boundaries, foundation

Resolution comes with making decisions through intellectual reasoning, rather than your emotions or intuition. You may ask yourself: “What am I building? Are the foundations of my life based on strong structures? Are my boundaries clear and well tended?” You are ready to take responsibility for a project where you have authority over others, and where your leadership skills can shine. What kind of a leader are you? Do you lead by example or by dominating? Are you secure enough in your own abilities that you can share power with others? Do you take into account the longterm consequences of the decisions that you make? You may also exemplify the Good Father who loves, guides and protects his children — and gives them the security of clear boundaries by disciplining them when necessary.

When Alexandra woke up, she told me I should run for president in 2008 (so cute!). I asked her why and she said, “Because you’re such a great leader.”

My numerological life path number is a one which is the card for the leadership. I guess I don’t need very many more confirmations that teaching and leading are part of my soul’s purpose.

Last night, as I read Harry Potter to Alexandra, there was a line where the Minister of Magic tells Harry that it’s time he shows some respect. Harry says, “It’s time you earned it.” I told Alexandra that I have used that line with my mother before. I laughingly pointed at her and said, “Don’t think about using that on me though!”

Her response was, “You have already earned it, Mom.” That felt very good.

I am very blessed and I know it.

Overhead a moment ago at the kitchen table, where my 5 year-old is working on a puzzle with a friend,

“You know what this is going so fast? Because we are working on it together. It’s easier that way.”

Indeed.
